"Now it's time to say goodbye..."
Last week was a sad week for all of us here at LaughingPlace.com. One of Disneyland's best friends, Imagineer Bob Baranick, resigned. If you don't know who Bob Baranick is, you must read the two pieces Rick West and Theme Park Adventure Magazine did last week. Afterwards I'm sure you'll understand what a loss this is for the Disney Company. Click for the Theme Park Adventure press release on Baranick's departure then read Rick West's special column about Bob.
Summer's just ended and there's kind of a lull now in the world of Disney. At Disneyland the infamous green walls will soon begin to rise as rehab and upgrade efforts start around the Magic Kingdom. Walt Disney World is gearing up for the 15 month millennium celebration beginning October 1st. All the summer movies have been released and now we wait for what should be an amazing winter with the releases of Toy Story II and Fantasia 2000. The Disneyana Convention gets underway today at Walt Disney World and continues through Saturday. If you're interested in the Walt Disney Company from a corporate perspective, there's an article in Fortune magazine on Disney's current problems (on the business side), Michael Eisner and his efforts to fix them. It's a lengthy, detailed article well worth reading for many Disney fans.
And here's a surprise, Disneyexpert won last week's trivia contest. That's three out of the first five he's won. Congratulations! Be sure to check out this week's contest on the attractions and characters of Fantasyland. And speaking of characters, choose your favorite in this week's online poll. The scheduled West Side of the Kingdom column will not be published this week because of Rick West's special column on Bob Baranick last week.
