The Report
Welcome to our newest column here on LaughingPlace.com, The Report. The goal is for this column to be kind of a clearinghouse for news, event information and even rumors about Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Expect lots of links to other websites and our own Discussion Boards as we'll always try to give credit where credit is due.
The Report is not a replacement for our Disneyland and Walt Disney World Updates. Those will continue. But because those are primarily pictorials and therefore aren't always done on a regular schedule, we wanted another place to share some of the information that appeared there as well as a place to put news that otherwise had no obvious place to go on LaughingPlace.com.
If you've got some information or know of some rumors you'd like to share, send it on to [email protected].
Now, without further ado...
Disneyland
News and Rumors
This weekend will be the final performances of "Believe...There's Magic in the
Stars". A different fireworks show will play during the summer starting
June 4th. As of now, that's all that's been released officially. However, as
always, there are plenty of rumors. You can read many of them in this Discussion
Board topic.
In a very rare move Disneyland will close for a day. Here's the quote from Disneyland.com:
Starting May 5, 2005, the Disneyland® Resort will mark the once-in-a-lifetime milestone of Disneyland® park's 50th Anniversary, a golden celebration so big it is taking place at Disney theme parks around the world. In final preparation for this unprecedented event, Disneyland® park will be closed to the public on Wednesday, May 4, 2005. Disney's California Adventure™ park will remain open. Applicable Annual Passport blockout dates will apply.
In an interview with Imagineer Barry Braverman from Disneyland's 50th announcement, MouseInfo.com reports on some of the details for the redo of Space Mountain and the new Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blast. Among the Space Mountain tidbits - Dick Dale's soundtrack will not return and all new ride vehicles. Click here to read the entire interview which includes much more information.
Over at FabulousDisneyBabe.com Michelle Smith reports on a major rehab for Disneyland's Plaza Pavilion - a Country Fair theme complete with a "Jr. Chef" program a la The Land at Epcot. According to Disneyland's refurbishment schedule both it and the Enchanted Tiki Room (which is right next to it) will be closed from September through March.
Because everyone loves rumors, I thought I'd pass on this one. ScreamScape.com says it's possible DCA will add Western River Expedition in the future. Not sure what Western River Expedition is? It's a classic concept from one of the masters, Marc Davis, somewhat like Pirates of the Caribbean.
This news has been around for a while, but it's still worth repeating. For a while now Disneyland has had a CD On Demand system selling classic Disney soundtracks and park music. That system was updated last month with many new CDs and is now called Wonderland Music. New CDs should also be added every quarter. For more, read the posts on the fantastic MagicMusic.net.
Who Wants To Be a Millionaire - Play It!, which has been running Friday-Sunday only, will return to daily operation at DCA on June 11th.
And yes, all indications are Superstar Limo is really, officially, totally closed for good now. No longer on park maps, no longer on rehab lists, just gone.
