New Smoking Policy
Both Walt Disney World and Disneyland put a new smoking policy into effect on January 30,
2000. In the four major Walt Disney World theme parks smoking is permitted in designated
areas only. The Magic Kingdom has 10 areas, Epcot has 20, Disney-MGM Studios has 8 and
Animal Kingdom has 6. Disneyland, by contrast, has only 3 areas inside the park and one
outside the gate. Below is a list of the areas.
Note: This list was obtained by looking at the park maps therefore
locations may not be exactly correct.

Spaceship Earth AT&T Cyber Neighborhood
AT&T Cyber Neighborhood opened at the post-show area of Spaceship Earth in late November. The display in the center of the room is very interesting. There is a wirey tree that has fiber optics as part of the woven limbs. This allows parts of it to change colors. At the end of some of the branches are little monitors that show the faces of guests who have stuck their heads into a small opening in the tree. Around the tree are little booths with hands coming out of the floor. In the palm of the hands are AT&T Digital Compasses. You touch the screen and move the around side to side and it points out the different activities within the room. If you press a "far" button, the compass tells you about some of the other pavilions in Future World. The floor around the tree is glass that is frosted with the continents of the world. The oceans are clear glass allowing you to see blue marble/stones underneath. The roots of the tree also go under this glass paneling and include some fiber optics as well.
