Mary Poppins at the El Capitan

Now through September 4, 2000 The El Capitan Theater in Hollywood California will present 11 special performances of the 1964 classic Mary Poppins. Guests are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Mary Poppins character and a best costume contest is held before the film. During the film guests are encouraged to sing along and the words are shown on the screen.
On August 3rd the first showing was held and as an extra special treat the Sherman Brothers, the choreographer and two of the chimney sweeps were on hand to play songs and share stories from the making of the film. Many Disney celebrities including animator Bill Justice, Disney CEO Michael Eisner and Disney Vice Chairman Roy E. Disney.

The costume contest included George Banks, a small chiminey sweep (not pictured),
a domestic, father and son penguins, and Admiral Boom
The winner was selected based on guests applause and the winner received
a Mary Poppins tape or DVD. Runner-ups received a Mary Poppins CD.
The father and son penguins won this evening.
