Disney Veterans Host Once-In-A-Lifetime Art Show and Tour of Disneyland To Benefit The Ryman-Carroll Foundation
For two Saturdays in September and one Saturday in October, a limited number of Disneyland fans will have the opportunity to breakfast in the exclusive Club 33 and to tour Disneyland under the guidance of legendary Disney Imagineers & Artists who helped create the Park.
A portion of the proceeds from this unique event will benefit The Ryman-Carroll Foundation, which was founded as a living tribute to Disney artist Herbert Dickens ("Herb") Ryman and currently celebrating its 10th Anniversary.
Those participating - no more than 100 guests on each of three Saturdays: September 23, September 30 and October 7 - will start their morning with breakfast in Club 33, the private club and restaurant overlooking New Orleans Square in Disneyland. Club 33 was originally designed for Walt Disney to entertain business associates and special guests, and many of its decorations were chosen by Disney himself.
Next door in The Disney Gallery, Guests will have the opportunity to view a special exhibition of Herbert Ryman artwork for Disney projects and his world travels.
Guests will then take a "History of Disneyland" tour of Disneyland, encountering legendary Disney "Imagineers & Artists" at key points of interest. The Imagineers will tell the stories behind favorite Disneyland attractions. Among those expected to participate are John Hench, Sam McKim, Marty Sklar and Bruce Gordon and David Mumford, authors of a forthcoming book about Herb Ryman, entitled A Brush with Disney.
Limited edition merchandise will be available for purchase as part of this special event.
The Ryman-Carroll Foundation was established in 1989 as a living tribute to Herbert Ryman. Its mission is to carry on Ryman's commitment to teaching classical drawing and painting skills to talented, motivated young people.
Herbert Ryman was a master artist and teacher whose career spanned more than 50 years as a production designer, art director and illustrator at such Hollywood studios as Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, 20th Century Fox and Walt Disney Studios. Throughout his career he never stopped adding to his own amazing body of personal work. He traveled to far-off lands and sketched and painted people, animals and places.
Tickets for this special event are available starting August 30th. The price is $125 and includes admission to Disneyland. There is no discount for Annual Passholders.
