Looking down at the iron work railing, John examined the ornate initials of "W.D." and "R.D.". Walt never saw this suite of rooms completed. However, it seemed to John that Walt would appreciate it being used as a showcase for animation and Disneyland art.

John was also pretty sure that Walt would not appreciate the current state of the railing. The welding around the initials has rusted away and his initials were being held in place with wire and a piece of clear plastic. Not good show.

However, the spirit of Walt was still present everywhere John looked. In fact, the loud whistle of the Mark Twain sternwheeler reminded John he had somewhere to be, it was almost time for the afternoon parade. Better run down and get a spot on Main Street.

Captain One-Eye Wallace’s boat returned to the dock with it’s full complement of passengers. First Mate Gillian happily saluted her Captain in thanks for a memorable trip. Together they had explored dangerous caves filled with secret treasure, fought off pirates as they attempted to burn down the town and board their ship, and learned the valuable lesson that ‘Dead men tell no tales’ something Gillian planned to take to heart.

Right now, Gillian was just interested in hooking up with her parents to share stories of her amazing trip. Dragging her brother down the exit ramp out into the harsh sunlight of mid-day where they paused expecting to find Mom and Dad.

Instead, all they saw were two scary looking Pirates complete with hats, swords, and nasty snarls. Well, that might be their parents if they’d been kidnapped by Captain Hook, they thought. Then the Pirates removed their gear, and it turns out they were Mom and Dad.

Kenny and Gillian beamed with glee as their parents handed over the hats, swords, and snarls to the proud young Pirates. They’d have great stories to tell with good props to add some realism when they returned to school. School, ugh. It’s too soon to be sent back to reality, better to ride Pirates again and find some of the buried treasure.
