Last October Disney announced the first tenants for Downtown Disney
I am really excited for DCA and Downtown Disney. I really hope they reconsider and put a DisneyQuest in CA. Living in UT our chances of enjoying it at Disneyland are greater than IL, PA or FL - C
I am really looking forward walking the streets of Downtown Disney. My family and I will be travelling to Disneyland next Spring (2001). We plan on taking it all in. --CG
What an enhancement to an otherwise dated, dirty and ugly area of Anahiem. I'm looking foward to it. Even though I might have to get a second morgage on the house to spend a week there, it will be a definite improvement to the area. After all, if it's too expensive, you can walk down to Ball and West St. to the AM/PM gas station and get a hot dog! --JM
I'm sure it will be fun however I would like to see more Disney style entertainment and less theaters and chain resturants. Where is DisneyQuest?!?!? The Rainforest Cafe, a Sports bar (thats a novel idea), and House of Blues are EVERYWHERE. I mean Universals City Walk isn't that far and its the same chain stuff. Oh well I guess we are living in the Disney cheap period....hopefully it will pass like all bad ideas, when they realize they need signature attractions to bring in people in this very competitive age. --MS
From last October, Walt Disney World Millennium Wand Lighting Ceremony
We loved it !! We visited WDW in October 1999 for 2 weeks from Australia. Thought it was wonderful. Love to see more of this kind of stuff on the Epcot ball in the future ! --UB
I like the look. But, if it was going to be the only time I was able to come I would like to get a picture without it. Like the castle on the 25th. --J
From last October, the new Journey Into Your Imagination at Epcot
I think it's a darn shame to take what was an incredibly imaginative and beautiful attraction (one of Imagineering's finest) and turn it into a cheap ride through a bunch of parlour tricks (that anyone with a little imagination could do on their own) and pawn it off as Imagination. Nigel Channing says that we have no imagination. Perhaps Walt Disney Attractions should be scanned, because they obviously don't have one. --LA
The absolute WORST rehab to any Disney attraction ever! Talk about destruction of a Disney classic! 10,000 thumbs down to the destruction of what was once an enchanting, entertaining and fun look at Imagintion! --TW
In November we ran an article on the new Tapestry of Nations parade and Illuminations 2000 show at Epcot
I went to Florida and also went to Epcot. It was the most amazing thing I had ever done. Whilest i was there I went to see the Tapestry of Nations and Illuminations three times. For me and the rest of the 11 members of my family and friends that went it was the best thing of all of the parks and the best of Epcot! We are going back this year and are definitely going back to Epcot to see the parade and firework display again! I also brought the CD over in America in Epcot and I think it is the best CD ever! --LA
Last November, former Imagineer Bob Baranick was kind enough give an interview on the changes to Pirates of the Caribbean in its just-completed rehab
Great interview. Its always fascinating to read what goes on in the minds of Imagineers. --J
No falling rocks? What the heck is he thinking about? --M
The changes and rehabilitation done to Pirates were phenominal. I enjoyed it so much I could not keep up with looking at all that was different. Bravo! Such genius. --PR
I was on it last Sunday, and while they still have some work to do on synchronizing, the ride was wonderful. The new figures movements are much more natural, the lighting looks great and the sound is much clearer. If this is the quality of rehabs they're doing now they can look forward to me having an annual passport for another ten years. --LG
Great job of gettin' Baranick to 'fess up. Now we know who to blame for killing the Hidden Mickey! ;-) --Anon
I loved this interview. Took the big ride on Pirates on Saturday morning. It went down just before we got in the boat. Had to reverse direction in line and come back later. But I was very impressed with how fresh the ride looked. Loved the caves! Noticed the skull and crossbones right away. After this interview, I'll look much more closely at the other effects. Thanks for the interview! Keep up the good work. --D
Our first and second Walt Disney World Updates brought in a positive response from readers and some suggestions
The more WDW the merrier!!! ---MR
