Redwood Creek Challenge Trail
Redwood Creek Challenge Trail
Their description: Outdoor family play adventure including Ahwahnee Camp Circle
My description: This trail is a great play area for people of all ages. There are many
things to do including slides, rope climbs, rock climbing, a tire "zip-line"
ride and a cool bear den (with a special surprise for more daring explorers). The amount
of themeing is noticeable, as the redwoods environment is very immersive. I especially
enjoy the little signs that give factoids about the local wildlife. Unfortunately though,
the view above the tree lines is a "beautiful" view of the street and Paradise
Pier.
I give Redwood Creek Challenge Trail a 9 out of 10.
Soarin' Over California
Soarin Over California
Their description: Exhilarating airborne adventure over Californias wonders.
My description: This is a flawed but good attraction. The queue is devoid of interest
except for a small area that has biographies on Californian aviators. The preshow film is
very subdued and a clever change from what Disney has offered before. The whole attraction
comes short of being great because of some problems. First, there is seemingly no point to
the experience besides just wowing you with vistas. Why exactly are we flying? How are we
flying? The themeing completely ends once you enter the simulator part itself. The cars
dont appear to be themed. The screen is visible the whole time, as is the ride
operator in plain view. Dirt that gets on the projectors magnifies and is quite
distracting on the screen. The movie is very similar in style to CircleVision. The score
that accompanies the film is excellent and adds a lot to the visuals. The actual movements
of the simulators are a little too subtle for my tastes. In addition, the effect of the
screen diminishes if you sit farther away. These problems keep the attraction from being
great in my mind.
I give Soarin Over California a 5 out of 10.
The Boudin Bakery
Their description: Master bakers showcasing fresh sourdough bread.
My description: Very silly and irreverent tour through the process of sourdough bread. The
celebrity guest hosts (I will leave them as a surprise) do a good job of keeping dry
material interesting. Overall this attraction is what it sounds like.
I give Boudin Bakery a 3 out of 10.
