Toon Talk: Atlantis: Milo's Return
And for those who thought the original film failed in the action department, the sequel is practically non-stop action, including daring Sub-Pod battles with a tentacled Kraken, eerie encounters with spooky ‘sand coyotes’, and a climactic clash of the titans in an arctic wasteland. Even the ‘lava whales’, which were once planned for a significant action set piece in the original film, make a brief appearance at the beginning of this film.
Which all leads one to hope that maybe there are more of these old Team Atlantis episodes laying around, waiting to be repackaged, which would then lead to a truly mystifying feat: a Disney direct-to-video sequel that is actually looked forward too.
Bonus Feature Highlights:
-
The animated menus, it must be noted, have to be the cheesiest Disney has ever produced.
-
Try your luck in The Search for the Spear of Destiny game, which is actually educational along the way, with brief, History Channel-style videos on such other lost cities as Pompeii and Great Zimbabwe.
-
If you, like me, thought there was something odd about the innkeeper in the first story, then check out the Twilight Zoneish twist-ed alternate ending in the deleted scene.
