And so - from a fan and a collector - my thanks and CONGRATULATIONS go out to -
Lee Zoppa - former Managing Director of Walt Disney Art Classics - I, for one, will miss her vision and her passion for the product - Lee is a very rare combination in the field of major market, animation and fine art collectables - a manager who "gets it" - who truly understands the business of marketing and moving the product line and who also understands the mindset of those for whom it is produced - a very rare combination - I - and other WDAC fans - wish her all the best in whatever she does next.
To Tim ODay - who was the Content Producer for the entire "Made in California" event - he produced all of the seminars and presentations including the opening night Dean Jones moment, the Sam McKim and Tony Baxter presentations, the entire 10th Anniversary Luncheon presentation - including videos - and the Leonard Maltin seminar, in addition to writing most of the event collateral material - event welcome letters, itinerary, event brochures and other miscellaneous support documents. And if this werent enough Tim was also responsible for securing and coordinating all celebrity talent including Dean Jones, Mary Costa, Sam and Matt McKim, Tony Baxter, Ollie Johnston, Alice Davis, Kathryn Beaumont - A Truly AMAZING job! Tim works as a consultant to the Walt Disney Company.
To Wendy Eike - the Operations Producer for the overall "Made in California" event on behalf of WDAC - handling the logistics for such vital aspects as catering, busses, coordination with Disneyland Entertainment and VIP accommodations. Wendy also handled the budget and the coordination and appearances of all the WDCC sculptors, plus the shipping and display of all product. As the project manager, she was instrumental in insuring that each of the myriad event pieces came together on-time and on-budget. Wendy is currently a freelance consultant for WDAC.
Both Wendy and Tim collaborated on establishing the complete event itinerary and timelines in collaboration with the WDAC team. Luckily for all of us - they will both be working - in the same capacity - on the 2003 Celebration of Walt Disney Art Classics aboard the Disney Cruise Line.
To Vini Reilly - who was the Entertainment Show Producer from the Disneyland Park, with Denny Newell as the Show Director and Karen Sitz as the Event Manager.
To Tony Garrison and Martha Blanding - along with the other members of the Disneyland Resort Merchandise group who were responsible for distribution of the gifts as the Conventioneers exited the DCA party - they also handled - flawlessly - the sale of the logo and event exclusive merchandise and public day at the World of Disney. And to DeliverEars for handling the shipping through FedEx for the convention.
All in all a First-Rate Show - one I will remember for years to come and one against which all future events will be measured.
Very well displayed and accessible - the logo merchandise sold very well. WDAC conventioneers like to wear their events and the merchandise team did a great job with the logo stock.
