Le Cellier

Then on Labor Day, the day Epcot reopened after Hurricane Frances, I finally got to go to a place I've been trying to get into forever. I never think far enough ahead to make Priority Seating arrangements, but usually it's not a big deal as I don't mind waiting. Le Cellier is different. Whenever we'd go ask, if we didn't have a PS, we weren't getting in. But on Labor Day crowds weren't an issue and they were happy to have guests. You can't see inside the restaurant at all from the outside so I didn't know what to expect decor and atmosphere wise. When we got in I realized why it's so hard to get in - the place is tiny! It's also kind of dark (it is a cellar, after all), but that wasn't a problem. I don't remember the name of what I had, but it had Portobello mushroom and sweet potato and was very good. The server was very friendly telling us plenty of stories about her home country, Canada. Le Cellier was worth the wait.

The Brochette (right) and the fried cheese thing (left) at Mama Melrose's

At Disney-MGM Studios Rebekah and I have eaten at Brown Derby a number of times. We've been to Sci-Fi Diner and Hollywood and Vine and just about every place in the park with the notable exceptions of the 50s Primetime Cafe and Mama Melrose's. We finally took care of one of those about a week ago. We went to Mama Melrose's for lunch and, again, it was very quiet (three other tables, I believe). The server wasn't especially friendly which is always a bit disappointing, but the food was great! We had a couple of appetizers (brochette and a fried cheese thing - this is why I'm not a food critic) which were absolutely great. And I had a wonderful pizza. All in all, very enjoyable.

Prince Charming and my Princess at 1900 Park Fare

And finally, last Friday Rebekah and I made it to a restaurant we haven't visited in a few years, 1900 Park Fare, at my favorite hotel, the Grand Floridian. 1900 Park Fare is a character buffet and last time we went they were experimenting with villains characters. As might be guessed, many of the children went running scared and it didn't last long. Last week we were visited by Cinderella, Prince Charming and the mice. The food was a little disappointing considering it's the Grand Floridian, but what it lacked in quality I made up for with quantity :) The place was packed with kids running wild, but it's Disney so you expect that. Of all the experiences I'm covering here, this was the least satisfying, but that won't stop me from going back. One notable positive - there were more vegetarian selections than are usually found on a buffet (including veggie lasagna) and that was a nice surprise.

On yeah - can't forget dessert. Rebekah and I went out to the Food and Fun Center at the Contemporary last week, perhaps the least heralded hotel eatery on property. But we found a very yummy dessert - the peanut butter trifle  It was very, very good ... and very, very fattening! And for all you Friends fans, you not only get to eat it, you get to make the joke (peanut butter - gooood. whipped cream - gooood.

Gooood!

Whew! Eating around The World sure is hard work :)
