Finally Cynthia turned to the cast member who had been escorted by Minnie Mouse, " And it's a privilege to recognize our Cast Member, Oscar Martinez.
Oscar Martinez
Oscar's been serving up smiles right here as a cook on Main Street USA since 1956, that's 44 years. Oscar, thank you for all your years of service. My special thanks to all of our Cast Members for making the magic happen each and every day."
Cynthia's attention turned once again to the gathered crowd, "You know Walt Disney realized that there's something magical in everyone and that's why he built this happy place. A place for dreaming, for laughing and sharing. A place just like home and your heart will lead you home to Disneyland. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome, Kenny Loggins."
Kenny Loggins
Loggins sang his song Your Heart Will Lead You Home from The Tigger Movie.
If you feel lost and on your own and far from home
you're never alone you know
Just think of your friends the ones who care we all will be waiting there with love to
share and your heart will lead you home.
The poncho clad youngsters swayed in rhythm to ballad. During the final chorus numerous Disney characters began to file onto the stage including characters from Mary Poppins, the Country Bear Playhouse, Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, Toy Story, Mulan, Robin Hood, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Beauty and the Beast, Hercules, Alice in Wonderland, The Lion King, Song of the South and Aladdin along with the classic Disney characters. Children both on stage and in the crowd could be heard greeting their particular favorite.
Cynthia Harriss rejoined Kenny Loggins on stage. "Thank you, Kenny for adding your own special magic to this very special celebration. Thank you so much for sharing that beautiful ballad for the new Tigger movie."
Loggins replied, "Well it's my pleasure and I'm glad to be here to help y' all celebrate your 45th anniversary here at Disneyland. You know while I was waiting backstage I listened to a medley they had playing over the speakers, a medley of all the great music from all of my childhood of the last 30 years and much of that music was written by the Sherman Brothers, who were co writers on that song Your Heart Will Lead You Home. And I'm just really proud to be here and have this as an opportunity also to finally present the cornerstone to my new children's album that's called More Songs from Pooh Corner. So thank you for all of this, too."
Cynthia once again thanked Kenny Loggins and the children's choir. Amist the audience applause and cheers Cynthia interjected, "I'd like to thank our invited guests, all of our park guests, our Cast Members and of course all of our Disney characters."
As the event drew a close Cynthia addressed the gathered crowd once again, "It's been truly our privilege to share the 45 years of magic and memories with all of you and for the children and the child in all of us, the magic of Disneyland will live forever."
