Introduction to Disney's California Adventure - Part Two

Counting Down
For people like myself who've watched this expansion take place over the past four
years, this is an interesting time. Most of the major outdoor work is completed. All the
buildings are up and most of the changes are happening inside buildings and out of
eyesight. On the other hand, more and more walls are coming down or being moved back
allowing an up close view of what's to come. And even though the three centerpieces - DCA,
Downtown Disney and the Grand Californian - have yet to open, the changes that have
debuted - the new esplanade, the Disneyland Hotel landscaping - have already had an
impact. Walking outside Disneyland and around the hotels, it already feels very different
than it did four years ago.
While we wait for the centerpiece of the expansion, DCA, to open, it becomes more and more apparent that the real transformation here wasn't turning a parking lot into a theme park. The real transformation was turning the greatest theme park in the world, Disneyland, into a resort - The Disneyland Resort.
