Kairi, a sweet youngster the same age as Sora, is a newcomer to the island. Although she appears fragile and gentle, she proves her mettle in a tight situation. Kairi's voice will be provided by Hayden Panettiere of "Ally McBeal" and "Remember the Titans."

The Heartless are the villains that must be overcome. They appear in a variety of forms and disguises, based on their surroundings. Some are merely annoying; others are very dangerous. Creatures literally without hearts, they appear out of nowhere, and no one knows their purpose or goals. They cast the world into darkness, and steal people's hearts. They assault Sora and his world without mercy.

Sora and his friends are hurled into different worlds. As Sora seeks his friends, he meets two characters that will be familiar to Disney fans: Court Wizard Donald Duck and Captain Goofy, the Protectors of Disney Castle.

Domald and Goofy help Sora throughout his quest, even in some pretty scary places!

They are also on a mission, to find King Mickey, who has mysteriously vanished. Together, they learn that their misfortunes have been caused by the Heartless. To further complicate their quest, the Disney villains collaborate behind the scenes to realize their own devious intentions. Sora, Donald and Goofy join forces to find Sora's friends, return King Mickey to his throne, and defeat the Heartless.

There are nine worlds drawn from Disney films in Kingdom Hearts. They are: Agrabah from Aladdin, under the sea from The Little Mermaid, Tarzan's jungle, the Hundred Acre Wood, London and Neverland from Peter Pan, Pinocchio's village, Olympus Stadium from Hercules, Alice's Wonderland, and Halloween Town from Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas.
