The show is modeled after our enormously successful animated film Aladdin which opened in 1992 with incredible acclaim and of course, box office. Aladdin was one of the most successful animated films in history. The story of Aladdin is a great one but what really helped give the film its sense of heart were the wonderful songs by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice.
