For his first wish Jafar asks to be Sultan of Agrabah but then he decides to become the most powerful sorcerer on earth. He transforms himself into a giant cobra to get rid of the 'street rat' Aladdin. But Aladdin tricks Jafar into wishing to be a powerful Genie and is trapped in a tiny lamp.

When the curtain dropped the crowd erupted into applause and cheers. The curtain rose again as the cast reappeared - first the ensemble, then the main characters. When the Genie appeared on stage the crowd response grew and when the cast broke into their concluding reprise of “A Friend Like Me�? the audience rose to their feet.
