Displaying a refreshing economy of storytelling, Bambi II runs only sixty-four minutes (minus end credits) … ironic, as it took Disney sixty-four years to make it.
Toon Talk Rating: A-
In this ‘Toon Talk’ feature, I will briefly highlight a recommended film or DVD, outside of the Disney universe, of similar interest to the main subject. Precocious, Pixyish Prince Legendary movie musical director Stanley Donen (Singin’ in the Rain) brings an experimental, almost avant-garde, eye to his film adaptation of the classic children’s tale The Little Prince (1974, Paramount). The My Fair Lady team of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe supply the Oscar-nominated song score, brought to life by a cast of Broadway faves Richard Kiley (Man of La Mancha), Donna McKechnie (A Chorus Line) and, in a rare onscreen appearance, Bob Fosse (Chicago). Also stars Gene Wilder and young Steven Warner as the title character, this flight of fancy is available on DVD from Paramount Home Video. |
Coming Soon in Toon Talk:
