Toon Talk: Best of Both Worlds Concert and Camp Rock
Page 2 of 2
At least the Jonas stick to what they supposedly do best in that movie; the same can not be said for Camp Rock. Put simply: they cannot act, although, to be fair, they are not alone. The trio are paired with newcomer Demi Lovato, so obviously in the process of being groomed to be the next Miley Cyrus (with a fierce set of bangs and an over-earnest smile that borders on the creepy, I dont think Miley has much to worry about).
Lovato stars as Mitchie (yes, Mitchie) Torres, an aspiring singer/songwriter who just wants to go to the titular music camp for the summer. Jonas Brother #1 (the shaggy haired one) plays Shane Gray, a spoiled rock star who, for the sake of the plot, ends up teaching at said camp. Jonas Brother #2 (the curly haired one) and Jonas Brother #3 (the prissy one) are Shanes Connect Three band mates who have forced him to do so. And poor Julie Brown has somehow wondered in to whole mess, to no avail.
Throw in the typical collection of teen types, such as the spoiled rich girl and the brainy best friend, and you can pretty much figure out where it is all going to go from there. Add to the sloppy writing and overwrought performing (absolutely every student at the camp is, like, so amazing!) some seriously bad dubbing and editing, and youll be yearning for the simple pleasures of From Justin to Kelly.
All in all, what these two movies prove is that not every Disney child star is equal. Present perplexing popularity aside, Miley, Joe, Kevin and Nick will never be in the same league as Annette, Hayley or, yes, even Britney. Unless you are already a fan, theres no reason take in this Concert or visit this Camp.
