Bigger, stronger, faster, Tron: Legacy plunges the viewer into a computerized landscape darker and more streamlined then our previous trip to the Grid. The iconic, battleship grey costumes of the original are gone, replaced with the basic black that all the action movie heroes (X-Men, G.I. Joe) are wearing these days. The light cycle trails are now streaming slashes of liquid light, and the identity discs are not as Frisbee-ish this time around. The whole look of Legacy is less militaristic, more grungy futuresque.

The French electronic music duo Daft Punk provides an ethereal, seductive score that greatly enhances the otherworldly quality of the film; the twosome cameo as (what else) DJs in the club scene.

First time feature film director Joseph Kosinski keeps the action zipping along for the most part, even with the sometimes incomprehensible plot. (Original Tron director Steven Lisberger returns as a producer.) The pseudo-religious aspect of the original is gratefully only hinted at, although Bridges does have a good time turning Flynn into a New Age-y version of his Dude from The Big Lebowski.

With the not-so-subtle seeds planted toward the end for another sequel, let�s hope that it doesn�t take another 28 years for Tron 3.0.
