So Doobie and Greg got to share the attractions only they seem to dislike, so now its my turn…
Jungle Cruise
The animation is outdated and so are the jokes. Also I find it incredibley akward to be sitting so close to that poor cast member and not laughing at their valiant attempt to be funny. Also the WDW version has the temple, where the whole feel of the attraction shifts and it just doesn't flow right. I like the changes that were made to the Disneyland version as part of the 50th anniversary celebration and I hope that will be transfered to the Magic Kingdom soon, however, it is still one of my least favorite attractions.
The Monorail
I know the highway in the sky holds a special place in Disney history, but I just don't get it. As an attraction, it has no story or theme, and as a transportation system it just does not seem to be efficient. It probably doesn't help that I have a curse that causes any monorail I am on to be delayed for one reason or the other. I am not talking about a "waiting for clearence" hold, I am talking serious delays. I understand what they were trying to accomplish by having the parking lot being removed from the Magic Kingdom, but I don't think the magic of having the parking lot being accross the Seven Seas Lagoon is worth having to wait for a monorail of ferryboat as you try and exit the park after wishes. All of this being said, I love having the monorails cruising through Walt Disney World and the Disneyland Resort and would be very sad if they went away. They are beautiful, I just don't like riding them.
Peter Pan's Flight
It is my least favorite of the Fantasyland dark rides. Too me it just comes across as cruising through twinkling lights. I wouldmuch rather go on Pinocchio's Daring Journey or Mr. Toad's Wild Ride at Disneyland or Snow White's Scary Adventure or The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh at the Magic Kingdom. If memory serves me right, which often it doesn't, when the Magic Kingdom was being developed, Peter Pan was going to be replaced by a Mary Poppins dark ride, but Roy Disney vetoed that idea. As much love and respect I have for Roy, I still wonder if I would have enjoyed it a lot more.
I know many people love the attractions I have mentioned. I don't want them to go away because I know they bring a lot of joy to many folks, including my friends. But all I ask, is if we are ever walking through the park together, allow me to skip these.
Thank you.
