On what was apparently a rainy day, Disney announced a 10 million dollar contribution to Florida Children's Hospital which will soon bear the Disney name. This is the next step in a long relationship Disney has with Florida Hospital. Celebration Health is run by the Florida Hospital and is quite nice. It actually seems more like a hotel than a hospital at times. If you are in Celebration Health's emergency room lobby you will see the Reedy Creek Emergency Services dropping off guests and cast members that need medical attention. In fact you will see a wide variety of costumes that remind me of going through the wardrobe department on the Disney-MGM Studios Backlot Tour. Cast Members also spend time a Centra Care Urgent Care which is also run by Florida Hospital. In fact if you go to first aid at the park they already have a pamphlet to tell you had to get to the nearest Centra Care across the street from Crossroads. Many cast members and guests have experiences with the Florida Hospital orginization and it great to see that relationship continue.
Quick Takes:
Studio Entertainment: Disney and Walden Media have had to delay the start of production of "The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader" from January to Summer 2008. Disney said this is to the "challenging schedules of our young actors". Because of this, the release date has moved from May 1, 2009 to May 7, 2010. G-Force, a film that features a blend of CGI and live action will take the May 2009 date.
Media Networks: The Disney Channel will air another sneak preview episode of "Phineas and Ferb" on September 28 at 10:45. Rebekah and I enjoyed the first preview that aired after the premiere of High School Musical 2. However the series might have been overshadowed by the Disney Channel blockbuster. If you get a chance, check the show out. If you like it, the show will premiere in the winter.
Consumer Products: Disney Consumer Products unveiled their Disney princess inspired wedding gowns, designed by Kirstie Kelly, today at the KABC soundstages on Circle 7. The gowns are inspired by princesses like Snow White, Cinderella, Jasmine, and Aurora are sure to be hits amongst many Disney fans. But I would not recommend collecting all of them. It would not be wise to get married six times, just so you can complete the set.
Video of the Day: Today's video comes from one of those old Disney variety specials we all love. The only one they still do is the annual Christmas Day parade. This clip is of Dolly Parton singing "9 to 5" with a bunch of characters, whom everyone knows works a lot more than 9 to 5. Thanks to Toon Kirby for sending in the link.
