What a great game! Despite my time losing, you have to admit that the game was electric. And while my beloved 49ers did not get a sixth ring, as a Disney fan there was plenty to celebrate. We got 3 different ads for upcoming Disney films during the Big Game festivities. If you missed them, you can watch them as you wait for MVP Joe Flacco to parade down Main Street U.S.A. at the Magic Kingdom.
The Lone Ranger sponsored the 6 o’clock hour of the CBS Pregame Show. Not only did we get a 90 second ad, we also got a Lone Ranger themed opening video package that mixed footage of the Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers, and scenes from the upcoming movie. As the game went on, and during the blackout, @LoneRanger asked questions about the ad on Twitter where you could win fabulous prizes. If you missed the spot, you can watch it here.
The next Disney spot was for Oz: The Great and Powerful. This was more of a traditional ad ahead of the March 6 release. The commercial is also available for viewing on Disney.com.
The final Disney ad appeared frustratingly late during the game, but many feel that it was worth the wait. While the version that aired during the game was on :30, you can watch an “extended look” featuring Robert Downey Jr. on Facebook.
And now, here are some of my favorite tweets from Disney related personalities during The Big Game!
“This is only the beginning. #electro” -@MarcW (Marc Webb, Director of the Amazing Spider-Man 2)
“I know it’s drastic, but after that kickoff runback I had to do something. Once 9ers collect themselves, I’ll restore the stadium lights.” -@BradBirdA113 (Brad Bird, Director of Tomorrowland)
“Go Niners. (This Tweet does not reflect the view or opinion of Marvel Entertainment, Inc. or its subsidiaries.)” -@axelalonsomarv (Axel Alonso, Editor-in-Chief of Marvel)
“If a power outage happens at the Oscars I’m hoping it’s when Tommy Lee Jones is on stage and he has to kill 20 minutes. Alone.” -@joshuahorowitz (Josh Horowitz, co-creator of Once Upon A Time)
