As it turns out The Walt Disney Company received one Golden Globe with Frozen winning the award for Best Animated Feature Film.
There was quite some online outrage over U2’s Ordinary Love from Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom winning Best Original Song over Frozen’s Let It Go.
I was struck with how many of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was at the awards. I saw Iron Man, Captain America, Bruce Banner, Thor, Rocket Raccoon, Star Lord, and Gamora. We also “heard” Black Widow. If you include heroes from Marvel movies produced by other studios we also had Daredevil. Mystique, and Magneto (the young one, not the old one).
The Muppets did steal the show with this ad that aired during the broadcast. http://youtu.be/wXfLrt90CHM
But I will be honest, no one cares about the Golden Globes. The Oscars are the real big deal. Not only are they not as controversial as the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, but they also air on ABC. This year, I believe they are hosted by Bill Nye the Science Guy from Ellen’s Energy Adventure.
For those keeping track, I was 4 for 25 on my Golden Globes ballot; a percentage that would get me kicked out of college. Oh well, I guess I can try and re-matriculate when the Oscars air March 2 on ABC.
