On a cold spring day, we finally made it to Chicago to visit the D23 Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives. We got there early and had our time to see the exhibit first thing. Upon going into the exhibit they have an area where they take your photo on a green screen and said we will add some Disney magic for you and that we can see them at the end of the exhibit. The first thing you see is a short movie that plays and tells the story of Walt Disney and what his life was like and how his dream became a reality. Very similar to the movie that plays at Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream.
From there you walk through the history of Walt’s life, from his school days and drawings that he made to the beginning of his career with the Alice in Wonderland series. You are able to view the contract of the Alice comedies as well as some of the products that were for sale when Oswald the Rabbit was popular.
There were several pieces to view that have substantial meaning and how the Disney we know and love today became a reality.
It is a great exhibit for all Disney fans that are not able to make it to Florida or California parks. We ran into several other Disney fans there and loved talking to them about artifacts and just what it is that each of us loves about the parks.
The exhibit runs through May 4. For more information visit the museum’s website.
