Disney has been teasing us adult Disney Fans for years with upscale make up here and there. A dabble with the OPI nail polish line with The Pirates of the Caribbean movies and the Muppets. And then the last several Christmases with Sephora Princess items. And a tween line of make up in the parks. But FINALLY! An adult line of cosmetics that you don’t have to go remove from your vanity and hide in the drawer when company comes over! Disney teamed up with M.A.C cosmetics (Make-up Art Cosmetics) to offer a fabulous line of make up inspired by the movie Maleficent. And what is most wonderful is that it is being offered on line and in Macy’s stores all over the country so no matter where you live you can go play with it locally just like I did! The shades are fun and colors that real women can wear. And the packaging is gorgeous. And its good make up that lasts. Can you tell I am a bit giddy over this line? Lets chat about it…
You have to try the sculpting powder. This goes on like a dream and is easy to control. You want to enhance those cheek bones? Or narrow your face a bit along the chin line? This color works more for a fair to olive skinned maiden. At a great price of $23.00 this is sold out on the M.A.C website so hopefully your local store still has some.
Love red lipstick but feel you need to have your teeth whitened before you can wear it? Not with True Love’s Kiss. First the design of the lipstick tube is fun. And the red is what I would call a normal red. Its not bright or borderline goth. Its a nice pleasant real red lipstick. It retails for $17.50.
And what I like to go with it are two partner pieces. The Kiss Me Quick lip pencil and the Anthurium Lip Glass. Yes I meant Glass. That is its official name. These are great with the True Loves Kiss Lipstick or the Lip Glass is fine by itself. The lip pencil retails for $21.95 and the Lip Glass is $22.00. They say this lasts for up to 6 hours but I would get a good three to four hours out of mine which makes me quite happy.
If you are an earthtone girl (I am) then you have to have the eye shadow! It comes in one palette with four shades, Goldmine, Ground Brown, Concrete and Carbon. Translated—warm gold, dark brown, medium brown and black. Perfect for blending. Once again great packaging with the Maleficent logo and the dark angel wings on the front. And these are colors we real women would wear. I just wish they had left room for the applicator in it. I hate carrying a separate little bag of make up pieces parts!
Now when I think of Maleficent I think of eyes and brows! I was not disappointed with the Fling Brow Pencil and the Maleficent Penultimate Eye Liner. The eye liner is BLACK so a little goes a long way depending on your occasion. The brow pencil is nice but the eye liner is really nice! No special packaging on these. The pencil retails for $17.50 and the eye liner is $21.50.
Now for the nails. I am thrilled they saved the bright red for the nails and not the lipstick! And it is bright! There are three colors, Flaming Rose (RED), Nocturnelle (Black), and Uninvited (Beige). Love the bottles! The nail polish goes on really shiny and 2 coats will give you the color of the polish in the bottle. These retail for $17.50 and I love the bottles!
The Maleficent Beauty Powder comes in great packaging but is for a very fair skinned maiden as well. Or for someone who wants to be a fair skinned maiden. This is more for a Sleeping Beauty than for a Maleficent. It retails for $30.00.
This collection does not come with mascara which surprised me a bit. Instead they offer two different eye lash kits. A 30 or a 36 eyelash kit, both retailing for $17.50.
The one item I did not get to try from the collection was the prep and prime highlighter. My Macy’s did not have it. So you will have to try it out and let me know so I can report! This line was available in stores between the 15th and 20th of May and is all limited edition so don’t wait to long to try or buy!
Overall I am very excited about this make up collection and I hope this is very successful so Disney will continue to try new lines with the nicer make up companies. If you are interested in checking this out right now you can go to the M.A.C online store at http://www.maccosmetics.
I can’t wait to see the movie this weekend while I am wearing my Maleficent make up. Flaming Rose nails, don’t you think?
Look Fabulous Everyone!
