The Big Cats take center stage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Each month Disney’s Animal Kingdom helps to rase awareness of some of our friends in the animal kingdom, because of International Tiger Day on July 29th they decided to showcase all the big (and not so big) cats.
As with each of the ‘animal days’ in the past the main floor of Rafiki’s Planet Watch has added info tables that have different activities or just chances to learn more about the topic of that day.
Since this is not called out on any of the maps or times guides it is not that crowded and really gives the guests a chance to interact with the Cast Members who are very knowledgeable about each of the topics.
The first table was focused on the cats and their lives at the park and how they live, play, and are trained.
The next table was a chance to see what it is like to be in the wild documenting the behavior of the Lion or Tiger. A short video was shown and the guest would keep track of the animal’s behavior.
After learning about tracking the behavior we learned about how the animals are tracked in the wild with motion cameras and their own version of the MagicBand the GPS collar. Plus a small activity helping to save the environment the tigers live in.
Lastly here I am testing my pouncing ability to see if I can jump the 20 feet a Lion can jump *spoiler* I can’t!
Over all another fun and informative day put on by the fine folks at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
