‘The Legacy Collection: The Lion King’ Bonus Feature

Did last night’s presentation of The Story of Frozen: The Making of a Disney Animated Classic make you yearn for more behind-the-scenes programming from classic Disney animation? If you said yes, then you’re in luck. To help celebrate the launch of Walt Disney Records’ The Legacy Collection, which debuted June 24th with The Lion King (for more information, check out our full review), the team behind these collectable soundtracks assembled a round table discussion about the film.

For this six-and-a-half minute featurette, Chris Montan (president of Walt Disney Music) brought together Hans Zimmer (composer) Mark Mancina (music producer), Roger Allers (director), Rob Minkoff (director) and Don Hahn (producer). Discussion topics include how the film came together, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” being cut from the film, favorite production memories and the moment they realized it was a phenomenon. I could go on and on about how enlightening this video is, but it might actually take less time for you to just watch it.

I hope future Legacy Collection releases receive similar behind-the-scenes video features. And speaking of future releases, The Legacy Collection release of Mary Poppins is now available and our review of this 3-disc set will be coming soon to a laughingplace.com near you.
