Amoeba Records in Hollywood was packed with Captain America fans on September 9th, with a signing event taking place in honor of Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s Blu-ray and DVD release. Not only were the film’s directors, Anthony and Joe Russo, signing in the evening but during the afternoon, there was a special giveaway activity.
The giveaway portion consisted of people lining up to select a thumb drive themed to Captain America’s iconic shield from a vending machine. Once the drive was dispensed, you took it to a SHIELD-themed truck, where the staff (dressed as SHIELD agents) would assist in checking the drive’s contents, which determined the other giveaway item. Prizes ranged from limited edition lithographs to character plushes to digital copies of the film. The whole process took a little over an hour of waiting in line.
The main event, of course, was the visit from Anthony and Joe Russo. To participate in the signing, you had to have purchased either the DVD or Blu-ray from Amoeba Records. At around 6 p.m., the directors sat down at their table, to much fanfare. Those who waited in line could have multiple items signed. I noticed that some people asked the pair to sign the lithograph that was one of the potential prizes from the giveaway earlier in the day.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is currently available on home video. The Russo Brothers are set to return to direct the third installment of the Captain America franchise which is scheduled to be released May 6, 2016
