On Friday December 19th the expansion of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort took a big step forward in the ribbon cutting and opening of the newly renovated lobby.
After months of walls and changing paths the new lobby is beautiful and very open.
While everything is not complete there is very little left in the main lobby area. One of the new features that did open was a small DVC room that was not being used yet, but it will be a nice area to hopefully move the sell of DVC into this room and off the main floor.
One of the nicest touches has to be the addition of some classic Disney Parks concept art from Rolly Crump, Mary Blair, and Herbie Ryman.
As for the rest of the lobby the shops on the upper level have reopened with new names, could be in tribute to the upcoming film.
Taking a look around the rest of the property we see a lot of the resort is still in the transition to the future.
Taking one last look at the lobby we see how close the concept art to what it has actually become, also note the Tiki God in the center will be placed when the full project will be complete.
By far one of the most beautiful part of the lobby has to be the added glass lamps hanging.
But one of the stand out of parts of the lobby has to be the iconic “hidden Mickeys” on the floor that was kept thankfully.
