Animal Kingdom Breakfast with Some New Roots!

IMG_2161Well Back to Animal Kingdom for something new and something old, that I had never done! First we start off the day, as every day should start, with a great breakfast!IMG_2164Years ago I had the Character Breakfast in Dinoland when it was Donald’s Breakfastosaurus, which was by far one of my favorite character breakfasts, but had not taken the time to visit since it had moved to Tusker House.IMG_2165 Tusker House is one of the many hidden gems of Disney’s Animal Kingdom! It is located behind a bar and on the path to the Safari so many people miss it but it’s. one of the most themed locations in all of Walt Disney World. The location has Character Breakfast and lunch and will be adding dinner starting in early March making it one of the few locations that has characters for all meals.

Once you check in outside the direct you to a courtyard where a Photopass person will take a family photo in from of a wall of masks and you wait till you are called in. As you head in you see the buffet as a great tease while you are escorted to your table, from there it is the norm…order drink, get food, take pictures with the character, and repeat!IMG_2190

The Tusker House has all the normal options but since it is Disney’s Animal Kingdom has its share with a African flare and it is all good! One of the things that caught my eye and really impressed me was a small are with gluten free pastry options.IMG_2191Of course the food was amazing, but the main reason to dine at this location is of course the characters!

Now that breakfast was out of the way the first stop, as always, was the Kilimanjaro Safari!IMG_2210 On this overcast cold day there was a lot of activity on the safari mostly causing the trucks to stay backed up all the way to the savanna area. Speaking of the savanna are this corner is fenced off for some work, looked like landscaping but one thing we have learned is you never know what animals you will see on the safari!IMG_2214As for the rest of the safari…well just take a look!

Also as a safety tip from us here at Laughingplace.com selfie sticks are never a good idea as it is, but we have seen them more and more being used on attractions and we really don’t want to have to start to hear “please keep your arms, legs, and selfie sticks inside the vehicle at all times” so please don’t do this!IMG_2220Now for the next “BIG THING” the Rivers of Light nighttime spectacle coming early next year, but right now it is still just a bunch of walls and heavy equipment near Expedition Everest.

Oh but wait!!!! That is not the next big thing, how could I forget the soon to be location of the next Starbucks! (no the holiday stuff is still not up, I couldn’t find the picture I took on this last visit)IMG_1215Now to the present and the big announcement made about the Tree of Life growing some new roots!IMG_2163For months walls have been up around the former Tree of Life Garden area, for those of you that didn’t know what that was it was a bit of a meandering path in front of the Tree of Life that got you close to some of the animals, so they could widen the walk way. IMG_2247The walls are now down and while I will miss the nice small path, the new open area provides a beautiful view of the Tree. Also the new roots are just as beautiful as the existing ones but with the opportunity to get closer to them!

Now as we say goodbye to Disney’s Animal Kingdom let us not forget one thing…..how amazing Mickey waffles can make any day!IMG_2203
