Frozen fever is here to stay! Disney Publishing Worldwide continues to outdo themselves with a new educational app released for iPad and iPhone called Frozen:Early Science, an innovative way to teach your young ones different scientific principles all while having fun and playing with their favorite Frozen Characters.
The app features different levels, or chapters teaching different scientific processes. With an easy curriculum and guided instructions along the way, it gives a strong impression to kids and explanation on scientific experiments that they see every day from botany, down to something as simple as cooking. And, with every task completed comes an achievement sticker that is placed in your book. As you wrack up different achievements in each different subject, you unlock different rewards and become a master in your subject.
This particular App is a part of series called Disney Imagicademy and I’m seriously impressed with this initiative! Obviously, any app that combines the fun of my daughters favorite movie with science AND make it stick has my full support. I love the simplicity of the concepts that really gives a good jumping off point for more questions and more exploration. Dr Stacy Sinclair, an adjunct professor at USC’s Rossier School of Education who was one of the collaborators in developing Disney Imagicademy Frozen: Early Science said, “All children have the capacity and propensity to explore, observe and discover the world around them”. Who doesn’t want to encourage their child to develop an early love for learning and curiosity about the world around them?
I have to say that my favorite level or chapter was the reindeer care section, where you learn to look for different symptoms from reindeer calf’s and learn how to take care of them. From picking off pesky bugs, fixing untamed hair, even to bandaging wounds and cleaning up their pen, I found this section fun with the help of Kristoff and Anna. This level also spoke to my daughter who really enjoyed making the reindeer’s happy again and dressing them up in hats and bows.
Another fantastic feature that I can’t rave enough about is the Disney Imagicademy Parents app that lets you sync to your child’s Frozen:Early Science app and track their progress to see what types of elements they are succeeding at or where they might need help from an adult. I strongly recommend downloading this as well and better yet, the parenting app is free!
Every parent wants their child to get that leg up and I love having apps that really expound on what we consider to be educational for our kids. If you have a child that loves apps, Frozen, Science or all of them combined, I strongly encourage you to look into this app and the continuation of this series of apps that will be continually released starting by early Summer. This is a great investment for your child and will expand the way they see how science is in their everyday life if they look for it.
