New York City is a mecca of haute couture. The 5th Avenue shopping district is lined with high end stores with drool worthy window displays and impeccably suited men waiting to open the store door allowing access to the expensive treasures. Among the New York natives dressed in the latest labels and fashions, I stick out like a sore thumb. I highly doubt my personal style of Disney shirts, jeans and Disney shoes will ever be featured in any glamour magazine. However, I do feel a little more fashion forward since famous designer Marc Jacobs has again partnered with Disney for his newest collection. Obviously, I’m not one to follow designers, but I do love everything about this collection, beginning with the name.
Inspired by Walt Disney’s animated film Alice in Wonderland, Marc Jacob’s collection “I Am Not Like Other Girls” features a few pieces of clothing and swoon worthy mischievous flower shaped coin purses. But, be forewarned, the prices are steep, ranging from $88 for the coin purses to upwards of $400 for the clothing.
In honor of the new collection, a Marc Jacobs store has “popped up” on the streets of New York. Located at 382 Bleecker Street, this store will be open through the holiday season. My much more fashion forward sister, Marla, took some wonderful pictures of this whimsical store and collections. Enjoy!
