Holidays at the Disney Parks means many things: tasty food, special parades and entertainment, and, of course, tons of themed goods to buy. This pictorial will take a look at some of the seasonal merchandise found at the Disneyland Resort, specifically the apparel and the ornaments.
We will be begin our magical holiday journey with an overview of apparel.
Disneyland is still celebrating its 60th anniversary along with Holidaytime and this sweatshirt blends both themes together on this unisex sweatshirt. The image’s icons all pay homage to the many ways Disneyland has celebrated the winter season over the years. For attractions, Haunted Mansion Holiday and “it’s a holiday world” holiday are both represented. The rest are from Park entertainment: Olaf in World of Color — Winter Dreams along with the Toy Soldiers and Gingerbread Men from A Christmas Fantasy Parade.
Here’s another red unisex item (in this case, a short-sleeved tee), this time with more modern, busier art on the front. I will say that I dig that Duffy the Disney Bear is represented within.
The style of this shirt is reminiscent of the Haunted Mansion Ghost Hostess shirt, only with long sleeves. The fabric is a little thin but the art that wraps around the shirt is darling.
A more classic piece of winter wear. Mickey and Minnie are embroidered along the bottom of this faux fleece zip-up. Note the tiny Mickey silhouette as a zipper pull.
Two snowflake shirts, both have hidden Mickey scattered about. The red long sleeve one is simpler in design, with a small amount of concentrated flakes. The black short sleeve tee has blue and silver Mickey snowflakes all over the place, many of which are bedazzled.
These glittery ladies’ tees have wrap-around artwork that is similar to that found on the previous unisex short-sleeved tee, just with a more feminine bent. Minnie is highlighted here rather than Head Cheese, Mickey Mouse. The royal sisters of Frozen are also front and center. This design is available in adult and child sizes.
These long-sleeved nightshirts looked pretty cozy. Several parts of the art starring Mickey and Minnie in Santa outfits are a little textured, adding an extra “pop” to the design.
Here we see a two-piece set of women’s pajamas, decorated with bows of different christmas-y patterns. Also in the picture are a pair of fuzzy, drawstring pajama pants. Its pattern consists of Mickey and Minnie faces along with red and green snowflakes.
Kids also get their own green and red PJ set. I welcome any opportunities to feature Duffy so I am all for this piece of merchandise.
Star Wars is a hot ticket this year and Disney went the clever route with this child’s one-piece pajamas. I am particularly fond of the candy cane lightsabers and Storm Troopers with red noses and antlers.
You want a novelty “ugly sweater” tee? Here is a pretty swell one! It has a unisex fit so any Star Wars fan can rock it.
And now, we transition to ornaments!
This very special ornament takes a cue from the 60th anniversary artwork as the red sweatshirt we saw at the start of the article. The metal ornament of Snowy the Snow Car (found in Disney California Adventure’s Cars Land during the holidays) is packaged in a display box featuring art and a few words about Disneyland’s 60th birthday.
For those who wanted to mark their visit with an ornament purchase, these may be the ornaments for you. Coming in a variety of styles, these ornaments all have 2015 colorfully emblazoned somewhere on them. A good portion of them were picture frames, giving you another way to immortalize a special moment from your trip.
I thought these were very pretty and a great way to showcase the holiday key art. The one on the right features Sleeping Beauty Castle, which I always like.
Many of the princess ornaments are repeats from years past but there are a few additions that I didn’t recognize. I could be wrong but I think the ones with fabric dresses are remakes of a previous series. They look slightly different than they did before, to me anyways.
And right under the princesses were the villains’ ornaments. I spotted The Evil Queen, Captain Hook, and Maleficent. All but Captain Hook had glitter accents.
This was one of my favorite ornaments. It is a teeny-tiny replica of The Partners statue that stands at the Hub in Disneyland as well in as the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World.
More Star Wars/holiday merchandise, this time in ornament form. They come in either BB-8 or Kylo Ren styles. I have concerns about the sturdiness of Kylo Ren’s lightsaber, though. It looked awfully fragile.
Not all of the ornaments were incredibly intricate. Some were flat Mickey-shaped ornaments (I think they were made of porcelain) with different designs painted on them. I particularly liked the one with Sleeping Beauty Castle in the snow. Other flat ones resembled a cranberry wreath or a sugar cookie with icing. Nestled amongst these ornaments were some made of blown glass. These resembled more traditional ornaments despite making a Hidden Mickey with the orbs.
The simplest of the ornaments but also among the prettiest. Each of the snowflake designs have a different level of opaqueness, creating different layers of shimmers when the light hits them.
Here is where we end our tour (but, if you want more, be sure to check our some of the other merchandise available as well). Thank you for joining me and Happy Holidays to all!
