A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, deep in the Hundred Acre Wood where Christopher Robin plays, a bear and a Gungan had absolutely nothing in common… except for Disney Tsum Tsum. The beginning of April saw a brand new set of Tsum Tsum plushies based on Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. At the same time, a new event based on Winnie the Pooh was introduced into the Tsum Tsum game. So grab your favorite stuffed bear and your best lightsaber, it’s time to talk about all that is new in the world of Disney Tsum Tsum.

The Phantom Menace

Seven Tsum Tsums from the worst Star Wars movie ever (yes, it’s the worst) were released on April 5th. Some of them are pretty cute, my personal favorite being Queen Amidala with her mega-huge headdress and red gown. However, an opportunity was missed by not including her weird lipstick. Also, there’s just one Amidala. She has so many iconic looks, they could have done an entire Amidala/Padme Episode I Tsum Tsum collection and they all would have been golden.

My second favorite is Darth Maul, who looks too cute to be evil now. He’s obviously mad, but I’m sure it’s nothing a Dole Whip couldn’t fix. And wook at his widdle double-sided light saber. Awww!

Theesa Tsum Tsum called Jar Jar Binks! Hesa eyes are muy muy uppity buppity and hesa ears are hangen the low. Hesa stoopid character from the bombad Star War, but hesa pretty cute Tsum Tsum, okieday?

Obi-Wan Kenobi was the highlight of the prequels, but the worst thing about him was that awful rat-tail braid that the Jedi thought looked hot back in 1999. In case you’ve forgotten just how big of a turn-off they were, here’s a Tsum Tsum that has one as its most prominent feature. Blargh!

Can it get any worse than that hair? Yes it can. And if Qui-Gon Jin’s hair isn’t worse than Obi-Wan’s, than the memories of his explanation of midichlorians surely are. He looks mad, but he has no one to blame but himself. Somebody get me my Darth Maul Tsum Tsum, I need to put this character to rest.

This is the first Tsum Tsum of Annie, I mean Annakin. If you ever wondered what a Tsum Tsum of Buzzy from Cranium Command would look like, here is your answer. Although Buzzy wouldn’t say stupid stuff like “Are you an angel?” and “Now that’s pod racing.” Oy!

If I was going to pick one more character from Episode I to squish into a plushy oval, excluding the aforementioned alternate outfits for Amidala, I would pick Watto, the junk dealing Toydarian that used to own Annie. But instead, Disney Store gave us Sebulba, the Star Wars character you never knew you never wanted. Tsum Tsums like this were practically made for the clearance aisle.

Honey Drop

A new card game has been added to the Tsum Tsum game. Players become a Pooh Bear trying to fill three pots of honey. Similar to the Halloween, Christmas and Valentine’s games before it, games played using honey hearts…

…allow a honey pot to enter the game you’re playing…

…which can be opened by popping three adjacent bubbles, or using the skill of certain Tsum Tsums (*cough* Sorcerer Mickey *cough*). Inside, you will find a frustrating abundance of coins and tickets, but the occasional honey drop gets added to your pot.

Honey Drop GET! And once you GET enough honey drops, you will fill up your pot. There are three honey pots to fill and completing each one earns you a Skill Ticket, which can be used to level up any Tsum Tsum of your choice, including limited release Tsum Tsums like Bumblebee Pooh.

The Jungle Book

Disney’s amazing live action version of The Jungle Book opens in theaters this Friday and Tsum Tsum is gearing up with some exciting new plushies. Those who receive the Tsum Tsum subscription service were delighted this month to get an advance part of this release with winky face mini Mowgli and small Baloo.

On April 19th, Disney Store will release eight mini Tsum Tsums based on these characters. Mowgli, Baloo, Baghera, King Louie, Kaa, Shere Khan, Junior and whatever the heck is in the lower left of this picture will be released. I’m really excited for all of them, except for that miscellaneous bonus animal that doesn’t resemble any character from the animated film. Only time will tell what that thing is supposed to be!
