As part of the Awaken Summer media event, we were given a “behind the wall” look at the new expansion of the Norway Pavilion’s ‘Royal Sommerhus’ meet and greet area for Princess Anna and Queen Elsa from the hit Disney Animated Film Frozen. While still under construction, we had Walt Disney Imagineer Lauren Niederhiser give an overview of the new area while work was continuing at breakneck speed to have it all ready for guests this summer. The new area is modeled after the real city of Trondheim in Norway, with the sisters Royal Sommerhus inspired by Detli House of the Trondlag Folk Museum.
The new area is more of a rural area of Norway located next to the original Norway Pavilion which represents more of the urban area. Next to the Royal Sommerhus is a merchandise location for all your Frozen needs. The area is being expanded and lots of greenery added but, unfortunately, no photos were permitted. Still, I can assure you the attention to detail will make this new area of Norway a seamless addition without a lot of the Frozen feel to it. Once inside the Sommerhus is where you’ll feel transported to Arendelle with views out toward the fjord and North Mountain before meeting each of the sisters.
Keep an eye out for more updates on the Royal Sommerhus and Frozen Ever After attraction as summer moves along.
