Announced as part of the 25 anniversary of the Disney Vacation Club, a new members lounge located on the second floor of Journey Into Imagination with Figment is a beautiful space that DVC members will be very pleased with. The new lounge can accommodate over 100 members with seating space for about 80. However, if the lounge reaches capacity when you check in, the member and their guests can be put in a virtual queue and receive a text when space becomes available. At the top of the stairs, guests will be greeted by a DVC Members Services Cast Member that can answer questions, book dining reservations, assist with FastPass+ bookings, or even help book upcoming vacations. The desk will also be staffed with an RCI representative to help with booking trips to non-DVC locations as well as answer any questions members may have about exchanging points. The lounge itself is very spacious and offers members everything they could need.DVC Members will have the opportunity to relax while charging their smart devices with one of the many USB ports located throughout the lounge.Guests also have the chance to use one of several iPad Pros in the lounge free of charge. My favorite benefit that the lounge has to offer would be the Coke Freestyle machines where guests can enjoy one of over 100 Coke products. But, if on one of those rare days you need something to help warm your bones, there is also a Keurig machine with a few options of K-Cups. If your DVC family includes young ones or, like me, the young at heart, there are also two Disney Infinity gaming stations as well as a television showing the latest Disney cartoons. Also offered are two work stations and a printer for those last minute boarding passes or important documents that you may need copies of.During our tour, we had the great privilege of meeting with Ken Potrock, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Disney Vacation Club who gave us a sneak peek at what is to come for DVC Members. Some of the events he mentioned were a Member Exclusive showing of Aladdin on Broadway (with specially priced tickets) and an upcoming event at the Disneyland Resort later this year, although her had no further information on that.He also pointed out that one of the main reasons for the lounge was the chance for members to have someplace not only to take a break but to also have some face time with a DVC Member Services representative. One of the biggest announcements Potrock made was that they were working on rebuilding the DVC website to make it more user-friendly and even offer an “impulse booking” option that allows members to search availability for the next weekend.
As a non-DVC member, I can tell you hearing Potrock talk about what is in the works for members and getting a chance to tour this amazing lounge is enough of a selling point to make me look deeper into the Disney Vacation Club.
The lounge will be open daily starting June 6th to DVC members and up to five guests. For more information, please visit the Disney Vacation Club website.
