Honda began their sponsorhip of Disneyland’s Autopia in 2016 with cars repainted in Honda colors, and new fuel-efficient Honda engines, badges and tires. The partnership continues as new character additions and storytelling. Honda’s ASIMO humanoid robot and its robotic friend, Bird, now join guests embarking on the ultimate road trip. We snapped some pictures of the new show scenes as well as the preshow featuring the duo. Keep reading to find out how this new storytelling plays tribute to Epcot’s World of Motion attraction.
From 1982 to 1996, guests at the TransCenter area of the post-show area could see a show called “The Bird and the Robot.” An Audio-Animatronic bird and an assembly line robot shared what it was like to be a part of a GM assembly line.
We aren’t sure how Honda feels about a GM experience being referenced in their sponsored attraction, but obviously robots have come a long way since 1982.
