Game Review: “Cars: Lightning League”

The racing game has changed and Lightning McQueen needs help catching up! Do you have what it takes to help him train and become great once again? That’s the plot of the new mobile game Cars: Lightning League.

Lightning needs all the help he can get from some new friends to become the racer he used to be. This fun mobile game gives you the chance to help Lightning relearn and even learn new tricks and techniques to get back on top of his racing game. Cruise through familiar places such as Radiator Springs, and find yourself on new courses like beaches, where you’ll learn how to skid across the sand. In completing levels and earning coins and special power-ups during courses, you can earn new racers that will give you power boosts to beat your rivals.

This game is the perfect companion to Cars 3 (now in theaters!). It’s a good introduction to the basic plot of the movie and familiarizes you to a few of the new characters. It’s a fairly easy game that my four year old can’t get enough of. By using your finger to swipe left, right, up, and down, you can guide Lightning around obstacles that will improve his skills, and even teach him a few new things that will help him beat his opponents later on. I appreciate the simplicity of the game, but also that it has me coming back for more updates to characters and chances to get Lightning to better levels. It’s great for everyone in the family.

Cars: Lightning League is now available to download for free from the Apple App Store and Google Play for free with in-app purchases, so be careful when handing the phone over to little ones. With your help, Lightning McQueen will become the ultimate champion!
