Star Wars: The Last Jedi arrived on Hollywood Boulevard with a sold-out Marathon event that saw a thousand guests viewing every Star Wars episode in order, including the latest installment. The event took place at the El Capitan Theater and included special offers, as well as features that will be available throughout the run of the film.
Outside the theater, no one could miss the massive Walker, towering nearly three stories next to the lighted marquee. A special red carpet had been set up to welcome Marathon guests. Along the carpet, Star Wars-inspired custom Nissan automobiles were available for photo opportunities. A Nissan Zero-emission car was part of the display.
Inside the lobby, guests could pose with BB-8 or join in a Storm Trooper meet and greet on selected show dates (December 22-24, 29-31 and January 5-7, 12-14, 19-21, and 26-28). Downstairs, an exclusive display of costumes and props from the film can be seen. The El Capitan offers an exclusive laser light show before each screening of The Last Jedi.
The Star Wars Marathon began on Wednesday, December 13th with a screening of The Phantom Menace at 9:30 p.m. Each episode followed in order, with The Last Jedi finishing the event on Thursday, December 14th at 6:00 p.m. Marathon guests also received a collectible blanket, double-sided poster, and themed popcorn bucket, and drink cup. During the event, there were surprise guests and interviews, hosted by Chris Hardwick of the pop culture website the Nerdist. Preceding the screening of The Last Jedi, Hardwick interviewed producer Ram Bergman and director Rian Johnson. A special greeting from star Mark Hamill was included as well.
