Tonight, the latest film in the Star Wars saga held its world premiere at not one, not two, but three Hollywood theatres. Solo: A Star Wars Story celebrated its big day in style (with a giant Millennium Falcon) before hitting screens at the TCL Chinese Theatre, the Dolby Theatre, and the El Capitan.
But enough about the hoopla — how is the film? Given the tumultuous production, which saw original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller ousted weeks before the film’s original wrap date, there’s been a great interest in whether the film would pull together. While full reviews won’t be up for a few more days, those in attendance were able to share their first impressions on social media. With that, here’s a quick roundup of what people are saying about Solo:
First up, Slashfilm’s Peter Sciretta seemed to enjoy the film, and also points out a potentially meta moment:
Overall, many had kind things to say about the film:
Some also praised the performances of Alden Ehrenreich as Han, Donald Glover as Lando, and others:

Finally, one reviewer advised that fans take precautions against spoilers — #ChewieDemandsYourSilence?
As always, it should be noted that these early reactions tend to be a bit more positive than full reviews. That said, it seems that Solo may have escaped what seemed like an ill fate mere months ago.
FYI, we’ll have our own first reactions to share tomorrow night and have a complete (spoiler-free) review Tuesday, May 15th.
Solo: A Star Wars Story blast into theatres May 25th.
