As part of the 30th Anniversary Celebration on May 1st, Disney’s Hollywood Studios not only did they premier a new nighttime projection show based off Disney Animation but a special Disney After Hours event was held that included some surprise friends out meeting and greeting, but we are getting ahead of ourselves.
Wonderful World of Animation
Replacing Disney Movie Magic, this new projection show celebrates everything animated from “Steamboat Willie” and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs all the way up to the upcoming Disney Pixar Toy Story 4. Being projected on the Chinese Theater facade prior to the nightly fireworks spectacular, not only does this show take you back to what really started it all for a “guy with a cardboard suitcase and 40 bucks in his pocket” but it is also a great way to prepare for the new attraction coming next spring Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
Of course, after the premiere of this fun show, a special Disney After Hours event was held that gave guests who purchased tickets for this event pretty much the run of the park. With little to no waits for attractions, it is a dream come true for those who want to ride Tower of Terror or Slinky Dog Dash as many times as they can.
When Disney After Hours kicked off, it was only about the attractions. But for this special anniversary, some extra special character meet and greets took place including a few rare ones.
Now, while the ability to ride all the attractions for 3 hours with little to no wait time was is worth the price of admission alone, I love the chance to get pictures like the following that are almost more rare than seeing the Ewoks.
The Wonderful World of Animation show runs nightly so be sure to check your times guide. And if you are looking to spend a few hours in a park with very few guests, make sure you check if there is a Disney After Hours during your vacation — it will be a night you will never forget.
