Bright Suns, fellow travelers! Now that we’ve had nearly a week to absorb and explore the amazing new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge area at Disneyland, let’s take a look back at a handful of entertaining and informative interviews I had the wonderful opportunity to participate in at the already-popular land’s grand opening media event.
First up, we go for a stroll through Batuu’s bustling Marketplace, with looks at shops like Black Spire Outfitters, Toydarian Toymaker, and the Creature Stall. During this interview with a member of Disney Parks’ merchandising team, we learn about some of the goods, apparel, toys, and critters available for you to take home from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Next, let’s pay a visit to Black Spire Outpost’s Droid Depot, where guests can build their very own R-series or BB-series droid, selecting from a conveyor belt loaded with a variety of parts in a selection of different colors. Participants then assemble the droid using a real screwdriver and watch it come to life in front of their very eyes.

In front of the giant Pod Racing engine cooking the meat at Ronto Roasters, Disneyland Resort’s Chef John State tells me about some of the tasty food and beverage options available at the walk-up stands in Black Spire Outpost. I got a taste of both Blue Milk and the Outpost Mix of popcorn from Kat Saka’s Kettle. Yum!

Of course, no visit to Batuu is complete without taking a job from pirate Hondo Ohnaka to fly the Millennium Falcon on a mission to collect Coaxium fuel for the Resistance. In this next interview, I sit down with a Walt Disney Imagineer in the Falcon’s famous hold to chat about what Star Wars fans can expect to experience upon entering this E-ticket flight simulator attraction.

Finally, I spoke with another Imagineer about the upcoming state-of-the-art dark ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, how to use your mobile device as an interactive datapad around Black Spire Outpost, and how Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge’s many tie-in novels and comic books affect what you see around you in the land.
