This is Halloween, this is Halloween! Last night the basic cable channel Freeform began airing its annual 31 Nights of Halloween programming block, and tonight Southern California fans of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, Hocus Pocus, The Addams Family, Scream, and the spooky fall holiday in general can rejoice, as Freeform’s Halloween House has returned to Hollywood for another limited-time run of seasonal fun.
Upon entering the lobby at the 2019 iteration of Freeform Halloween House, guests will find themselves face-to-face with the iconic holiday tree nexus from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Before entering in through the portal to Halloween Town, you can enjoy drinks from the horror-themed bar while listening to tunes spun by a DJ appropriately dressed as Sally herself. There are also carnival-style games with spooky prizes, a Scream photo booth, a Disney artist drawing familiar characters, and an art-show display of The Many Faces of Jack Skellington.
Watch Freeform Halloween House 2019:
Once you’ve crossed the threshold through that foreboding Halloween tree, you’ll find yourself in an eerie graveyard with humorous tombstones (not unlike those you’d find at Disneyland’s The Haunted Mansion) informing us of the untimely demises of some beloved Disney personalities such as Mike Wazowski, Sulley, and even Buzz Lightyear and Woody from Toy Story. Then take your photo in front of the giant yellow moon from The Nightmare Before Christmas and continue to make your way through the house.
In other rooms, Freeform has re-created the Sanderson Sisters’ cottage from Hocus Pocus, The Addams Family’s living (dying?) room, and more instantly recognizable scenes from Nightmare such as Halloween Town Square, Lock, Shock, and Barrel’s Treehouse, and Oogie Boogie’s Lair. There are more games and another bar available in the second-floor level of the event, so don’t leave without winning some creepy-crawly goodies to take home with you!
The bulk of Freeform Halloween House is dedicated to Instagram-friendly photo opportunities such as flying on the vacuum cleaner from Hocus Pocus or reclining on The Addams Family sofa. There are no ghouls or goblins waiting to jump out and scare you behind each corner, which makes this attraction an overwhelmingly family-friendly one. Families can feel safe bringing young ones and can expect to spend most of the evening posing at interactive activations throughout the building, with plenty of surprises in store for Halloween and Disney fans of all ages.
Freeform’s 31 Nights of Halloween airs every night from now through the end of October and Freeform Halloween House 2019 opens tonight (Wednesday, October 2) and runs every night from now through Monday, October 7.
