We’re in the endgame now. Tomorrow is the opening of Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure in Disneyland Resort. To celebrate the end of our countdown to the opening of the new land, we decided to take a look at what our team is looking forward to seeing most when we get the chance to visit.
Lee – Eating All The Food
Although I’m equally excited about the new attraction, the merchandise I can’t stop myself from buying and all the hidden details we’ll be able to spot for the rest of time, I do have to pick one, sadly, and so I am giving the nod to the incredibly gorgeous food that continues to be posted online.
Whether it’s a shawarma or a huge atomic fusion pretzel that features chicken and blue cheese(?!), I just can’t take my eyes off all the delicious delicacies I’ll be devouring. Can you just imagine listening to an amazing Marvel BGM while enjoying a family-sized Pym-ini? And honestly that would just be for me. I don’t pay attention to the recommended 6-8 people serving size. Now that I say that, are we going to see people start doing family-sized Pym-ini eating contests at the Campus?!
Doobie – Atmosphere Animatronics
The future of animatronics starts here. Autonomous characters that can not only walk and talk, like Baby Groot (hopefully he appears here at some point), but fly through the air. I can’t wait to see the Spider-Man Stuntronic make his debut flying high above Avengers Campus. So many possibilities will be opened up. It’s so appropriate that they start at the home of Stark Industries.
Jeremiah – Themed Land
Up until 1993 and the opening of Mickey’s Toontown, a Disney Parks land was just a broad theme that attractions could fit in like Disney Classic films in Fantasyland, but Toontown told a full story in one area. When Iron Man launched the MCU, we were introduced to the bigger concept of an interweaving story that has changed storytelling as we know it and with the few Marvel theme park attractions and hints on the Disney Cruise Line so far we have gotten a taste of what to expect. The Avengers Campus is the linchpin of the theme park Marvel Universe and will start to reshape not just storytelling in one park but tie each Disney Park together in ways we can’t even understand yet.
Mack – The Details
It’s easy to be excited about the new attraction or the land as a whole and my real answer is probably actually the food (but I let Lee handle that one), but what I’m really looking forward to seeing is the details. We’ve spent the last several weeks looking at some of these details with our Countdown and now I can’t wait to see them in person. Whether it’s the Kirby Krackle around Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, the Orb of Cagliostro in the Ancient Sanctum or any of the many other Easter Eggs around the land, I am really looking forward to exploring these subtle details to enhance my very own Marvel adventure.
Avengers Campus opens tomorrow (Friday, June 4). Be sure to follow along with all of our Avengers Campus coverage by following us on Twitter and subscribing on YouTube.
