Disney’s El Capitan Theatre In Hollywood Debuts New Cast Member Costumes Ahead of “Brave New World” Opening
El Cap Cast Members Assemble!
Just ahead of the highly anticipated opening of Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World this evening, the Walt Disney Company-operated El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood has debuted new costumes for its Cast Members.
What’s happening:
- Hollywood’s El Capitan Theatre has introduced new Cast Member costumes via its official Instagram feed (video post embedded below).
- The El Capitan has served as Disney’s flagship movie house since 1989, when it hosted the premiere of The Rocketeer.
- It originally opened in 1926 (100th anniversary coming next year!) as a live performance theater, and began showing movies in 1941, even hosting the world premiere of Orson Welles’s Citizen Kane.
What they’re saying:
- El Capitan Theatre: “Time to suit up! We're so excited to share our new El Capitan Theatre costumes! Get tickets now and see them for yourself!"
- “In 1989, the Walt Disney Company joined forces with Pacific Theatres and launched a two-year remodel of the El Capitan Theatre. The remodel was led by renowned theatre designer Joseph J. Musil with the supervision of the National Park Service's Department of the Interior, and guidance from conservator Martin Weil and architect Ed Fields. The theatre reopened its doors to the public on June 19, 1991 for the world premiere of Walt Disney Pictures' THE ROCKETEER."
- “Today the El Capitan Theatre is an exclusive first-run movie theatre equipped with state-of-the-art technology, operated by The Walt Disney Studios. Known as Disney’s Home on Hollywood Boulevard, the theatre also hosts live stage shows, world premieres, special events and screenings of classic Disney films. In 2014, the City of Los Angeles declared the theatre a Historical Monument after its restoration showcasing the original lavish architecture."
