Marvel Rival’s Spring Festival Celebrates Lunar New Year with Cosmetics, a New Event Pass, and a Soccer-Inspired Game Mode

Don't miss out on these exciting limited-time offerings.

In celebration of Lunar New Year, Marvel’s hit new game Marvel Rivals has introduced their new Spring Festival event, bringing in new challenges, costumes, and a brand new game mode.

What’s Happening:

  • Marvel Rivals, the new hit Player vs Player game from Marvel Games and NetEase Games, has just released their second special event.
  • Taking place from now until February 14th, their Lunar New Year event, dubbed the Spring Festival, has launched some exciting new missions, cosmetics, and a special game mode.
  • When launching the game, players will be able to see the new event in the upper left hand corner. By clicking on it, it will take you to a rewards track titled Fortune and Colors.
  • Featuring currency, sprays, and a special Star Lord skin, fans will need to jump into their brand new game mode to unlock Danqing (magical dye) to traverse through the event pass.

  • Danqing can only be acquired through event missions, which can be found on the mission page under the lantern icon.

  • Titled Clash of Dancing Lions, the new game mode is a 3 v 3 soccer-style match where teams will be tasked to score 12 points before the timer runs out.
  • Featuring unique costumes for the event, players will need to choose between Star Lord, Black Widow, and Iron Fist. Each team must have one of each character.
  • Unlike normal rounds of Marvel Rivals, players will not be able to deal or take damage. Instead, a limited amount of each character’s abilities will be available to you as you try to score and stop the other team from scoring.
  • Each character has different strengths and weaknesses, making strategizing about how to get past or get the ball from other characters a fun challenge.
  • Clash of Dancing Lions map is situated at Wakanda’s World Arena.

  • After completing challenges and earning Danqing, you can head back to the event page and use it to start filling in the backdrop. For every 100 Danqing used, a new portion of the picture will be colored in, unlocking a tier in the event pass rewards.

  • The reward tiers include:
    • 100 Danqing – Drum and Roar Nameplate
    • 200 – Snake’s Luck Spray
    • 300 – 200 Chrono Tokens
    • 400 – Lion’s Mane Nameplate
    • 500 – Lion’s Mane Spray
    • 600 – 200 Chrono Tokens
    • 700 – Lion Roll Emote (Star Lord)
    • 800 – Lion Dance MVP Intro (Star Lord)
    • 900 – Lion’s Mane Costume (Star Lord)
    • 1000 – Of Festivals and Friends Gallery Card
  • Obviously, the most exciting reward to most players will be the Lion’s Mane Costume for Star Lord. Currently featured in Clash of Dancing Lions, the costume is not available in the store and must be unlocked through the Spring Festival event pass.

  • On February 6th, the game will begin allowing players to trade Units for Danqing to allow those behind in the rewards track to catch up.
  • Star Lord is not the only superhero with a celebratory costume. The festive cosmetics found in Clash of Dancing Lions for Iron Fist and Black Widow are currently available in the shop.
  • Iron Fist’s Lion Gaze bundle will run you 2200 units (about $22), and includes the costume, a nameplate, an emote, a spray, and an MVP intro.

  • For 1600 units (about $16), players can pick up Black Widow's Lion’s Heartbeat Bundle. This set also features a nameplate, emote, spray, and MVP intro.

  • The pair of costumes can be purchased through the Dancing Lions Bundle. For 2800 units (about $28), grab each bundle’s costumes and accessories for about 26% off as opposed to buying each separately.

  • Officially ending on February 14th, don’t miss out on the Lunar New Year festivities on Marvel Rivals.

  • Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play game available now on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles.
