Pixar’s “Elio” Release Date Pushed Back One Week, 20th Century Studios Dates “Ella McCay” and “Send Help”

Don’t worry Pixar fans, you only have one extra week to wait!

Animation fans will have to wait just a little longer to see Pixar’s latest film, Elio, as the release date has been pushed back one week.

What’s Happening:

  • Deadline reports that Disney has changed the release date for Pixar’s Elio from Friday, June 13th to Friday, June 20th.
  • This move should give the film a better chance to compete, as it will instead open alongside the adult title 28 Years Later, vs. the equally family friendly live-action adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon.
  • The updated date will also give more space for Disney’s other summer releases – Lilo & Stitch on May 23rd and The Fantastic Four: First Steps on July 25th.
  • Elio will also be the only animated film to be released between Looney Toons: The Day The Earth Blew Up on March 14th and The Smurfs on July 18th.

  • Disney has also dated two films from 20th Century Studios – Ella McCay and Send Help – on September 19th, 2025 and January 30th, 2026, respectively.
  • Directed by James L. Brooks, Ella McCay follows an idealistic young politician who juggles familial issues and a challenging work life while preparing to take over the job of her mentor, the state’s longtime incumbent governor.
  • Sam Raimi’s Send Help stars Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien. After a plane crash strands a capable female employee and her annoying boss on a remote island, she must use her survival skills to keep them both alive, despite their challenging relationship.
