Robert Downey Jr. Teases His Role as Doctor Doom in Valentine’s Day Post

It seems Doom may hate Reed Richards but loves chocolate!

With production nearing on Avengers: Doomsday, Robert Downey Jr. is celebrating Valentine’s Day with a fun nod to his upcoming return to the MCU.

What’s Happening:

  • On Instagram, Downey posted three images, along with the caption “Happy V-Day."
  • Downey tagged Team Downey, the production company he started with his wife, Susan, and Happy Products, the coffee company he co-founded, and included corresponding images for both of them. But it’s the third company he tagged and its accompanying image that’s making fans especially take note, since it’s Marvel Studios.
  • The image, seen above, shows a Valentine’s Day box of chocolates shaped like Doctor Doom’s mask, with a Happy Valentine’s Day message accompanied by the punny name Victor Von Valentine.
  • The man who once was Iron Man, Downey of course will be playing Victor Von Doom, AKA Doctor Doom, in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars films, which was announced in a big way at San Diego Comic-Con last year.
  • Marvel Studios has confirmed few details about the next two Avengers movies beyond Downey’s surprising role, except that Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame’s Russo brothers are returning to direct, alongside one of their collaborators on those films – as well as on Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War – screenwriter Stephen McFeely. According to The Wrap, production on Avengers: Doomsday begins very soon, in March, in the UK, so no doubt his impending role is one that’s looming large for Downey these days.
