Actress Sigourney Weaver Spills New “Baby Yoda” Details for Next Year’s “The Mandalorian & Grogu” Movie

The "Ghostbusters" actress is playing an unknown role in Lucasfilm's next big-screen feature.

The acclaimed and fan-favorite actress Sigourney Weaver is set to enter the Star Wars galaxy for the first time next year, and having already shot her part for The Mandalorian & Grogu, she seems surprisingly willing to share details about the film.

What’s happening:

  • In an interview with Total Film / GamesRadar+ promoting her new movie The Gorge, actress Sigourney Weaver (Alien, Ghostbusters, Avatar) spilled a surprising amount of information about Lucasfilm’s highly anticipated theatrical film The Mandalorian & Grogu, in which she has a supporting role.
  • Weaver offhandedly mentioned that the character of Grogu (AKA “Baby Yoda") has “grown up" a bit since we last saw him in The Mandalorian.
  • She also calls her own unidentified character someone who is in “a position of authority" and that she had the honor of sending the title characters off on a mission into the Outer Rim of the Star Wars galaxy.

What they’re saying:

  • Sigourney Weaver: “I get to have scenes with a little Grogu which is probably why I did the movie. And he's a little badass too. It's going to be wonderful for people to see what Grogu is up to now because he's grown up a little bit and is capable of much more than maybe we think just watching the series."
  • “I play a wonderful character who is in a position of authority. And I have to send the Mandalorian out on a mission on the Outer Rim where all the bad stuff happens."
  • “I admire [Star Wars], but I don't sit around wishing I was in another franchise, because I've been so lucky to be in some wonderful ones. But at the time, when I was offered it, I was delighted. I'm a great fan of John Favreau. I was already a great fan of The Mandalorian."

The Mandalorian & Grogu is set to hit theaters on May 22nd, 2026.
