BDX Droids to Hop Into “The Mandalorian and Grogu” and Disney Parks Around the Globe

But will you see their handlers in the film too?

The upbeat fun of the BDX Droids of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is coming to other Disney Parks destinations around the globe, as revealed earlier today at SXSW.

What’s Happening:

  • Earlier today at SXSW, it was confirmed that the BDX droids, who have been garnering notoriety for their appearances in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at the Disneyland Resort, will soon be traveling and making appearances around our own planet.
  • The BDX droids will also be coming to Walt Disney World, Disneyland Paris, and Tokyo Disney Resort starting later this year.
  • Along with making new theme park appearances, it was also confirmed today that the BDX droids will also be appearing in the upcoming Star Wars motion picture, The Mandalorian & Grogu, which is set to release on May 22nd, 2026.

  • This news was originally teased at INBOUND 2024, a conference bringing together marketing, sales, and customer service professionals when Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Experiences, told those in attendance that they would soon be featured in an upcoming Star Wars film.
  • While he didn’t officially say which, there was only one Star Wars film in active production, leaving many fans to assume it was in fact, The Mandalorian & Grogu. Today’s news from SXSW confirms it.
  • The BDX droids appeared at the Disneyland Resort, wowing fans with their quirky personalities and fun nature.

  • Disney Parks fans across the country have also wanted to see them appear at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in their Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on a regular basis as well, and it seems that they are on their way to that destination and other Star Wars locales at Disney Parks globally in the near future.
  • With all this work, the droids are sure to need a tune-up eventually and the panel teased that Imagineering already has the right creature for the job - As previously seen in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the latest season of The Mandalorian, an Anzellan named Otto who specializes in tuning up droid might be present as well.

  • Also on the horizon for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is more The Mandalorian & Grogu fun, with a new mission featuring the two heroes coming to Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run just in time for the debut of their new films next year.
